Cervical Cancer Awareness Month with Teal Asia—Malaysia’s first peer-to-peer support movement
At the heart of the gathering was a renewed emphasis on cervical cancer screening and early detection, echoing the decade-long work of the ROSE Foundation. Supported by public donations, the foundation has played a pivotal role in making HPV screening more accessible to women across Malaysia. Teal Asia gently reminded guests that awareness is only the first step—continued support from communities, corporations, and individuals is essential to sustaining impact.
Teal Asia founder and WHO-recognised patient advocate Selina Yeop Jr. spoke on the quiet power of prevention.
“Cervical cancer is the only cancer that can be prevented. All it takes is just two HPV screenings in your lifetime,” she shared.

Beyond prevention, the conversation turned to life after treatment. Selina reflected on the often-overlooked phase of survivorship, where healing extends beyond clinical care. Wellness and complementary therapies, she noted, can play a meaningful role in restoring balance, strength, and quality of life.
The programme was hosted in collaboration with Hava Wellness Centre, Malaysia’s first integrated hydrogen therapy facility—framing wellness not as a luxury, but as an essential part of recovery. This perspective aligns with the World Health Organisation’s recognition of supportive and palliative care as vital to long-term healing.
Guests were invited to continue the experience through optional HPV screening and curated wellness therapies, reinforcing a holistic approach to prevention and post-treatment care.
Teal Asia reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing awareness, encouraging regular screenings, and supporting patients and survivors at every stage of their journey. With collective action, the movement believes cervical cancer is not only preventable—but eliminable.
The afternoon concluded with a shared intention: to elevate cervical health as a national priority and work toward the WHO’s Global Goal of Cervical Cancer Elimination by 2030.
