LANG TENGAH ISLAND
There are hundreds of islands around Malaysia so it can get hard to make a decision on where to go for idyllic white sandy beaches and azure waters that rival the Maldives. Incidentally, Lang Tengah Island in the Northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia, has also been dubbed as the “Maldives of Southeast Asia”. With up to 3 metre-deep crystal clear waters and squeaky soft white sand, Lang Tengah Island can most definitely pass off as one of the atolls in Maldives.
Situated in between the more popular islands of Redang and Perhentian Islands, Lang Tengah is relatively smaller and offers a more relaxed vibe. There are no roads and no vehicles on this tiny slice of paradise and you can only get around the island by foot through the tropical jungle or by boat.
LANG TENGAH ISLAND
Due to limitations in its size, Lang Tengah Island is mainly untouched and offers only 4 resorts around the island. This has its advantages as over the years, the island has been mainly untouched and mass tourism has never been an issue due to the lack of accommodation around.
Its narrow stretch of white sandy beaches are located at the north-eastern and south-western side of the island and are separated by a lush mountain that acts as the backbone of this tropical island.
You can explore the island by foot through the paths in the jungle to get from one resort to the other or take a boat around the island which takes just 10 minutes.
