WHAT TO WEAR ON A PLANE FOR YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAYS
Your flight has been booked, your summer essentials packed and you’re getting ready to go to the airport wearing what you would be wearing on the beach. Yes, we all get it, you’re heading to a tropical paradise where it’s summer all year round and your attire is perfect for the island. Here are some suggestions and considerations to what to wear on a plane for your summer holidays!
SECURITY
Plenty of pockets, especially in cargo shorts means having random items in them. Imagine having to go through airport security multiple times, removing everything from each pocket only to forget that little coin in the back pocket while walking through the metal detector and holding up other passengers. Meh!
Opt for loose or fitted linen pants that you can also wear on the beach and keep your small items in a pouch or in your tote bag.
COMFORT
While we get how pyjamas are the most comfortable item in our wardrobe, this doesn’t mean that rocking up at the check-in counter in your Hello Kitty onesie is acceptable. Forget about getting an upgrade to begin with. Singlets, spaghetti straps, shorts and hotpants will probably mean that you might risk freezing to death in the airport and on the flight.
Go for soft layers of clothing that can be easily removed on board the flight. Large scarves are versatile and can be mixed and matched with your summer wardrobe and used during chilly nights by the beach.
SAFETY While aircrafts are mostly the safest form of travel these days, you should always be prepared for an emergency. Wearing long skirts and maxi dresses might be comfortable, however they can pose a safety issue by getting caught in between seats, getting stepped, tripping others and even yourself during an evacuation. For obvious reasons, stilettos and flip-flops also pose safety risks.
Try to wear pants or compression leggings at all times and flat shoes or ballerinas during a flight.
Remember, security, comfort and safety should always be kept in mind when dressing for a flight.
Now that you know what to wear on a plane for your summer holidays, we wish you Bon Voyage and have plenty of fun under the sun!
