The resort has not one, not two but three swimming pools making it the best family resort in Malaysia. There is a baby wading pool, a swim-up pool bar and a deeper lap pool. Children are allowed to use all pools. No lifeguards are on duty so children must be supervised by adults at all times. Soak up the sun in one of the numerous deck chairs around or relax under the trees. Towels are provided at the towel hut for all guests. There is also a water dispenser at the hut to keep you hydrated at all times.

TENNIS COURTS

Spend more time as a fit family under the sun with a round of tennis. The resort has two tennis courts on-site. The hotel does not provide equipment rentals so guests are to bring their own tennis rackets and tennis balls along with them.

FITNESS CENTER

This casual dining venue offers spectacular views of the sea in the morning. Asian and Western buffet breakfast is served daily from 6:30am until 10:30am during the weekdays and from 6:30am until 11:00am on weekends and public holidays. Kampung is also open for lunch and dinner from 11:00am to 11:00pm.

ITALIAN BISTRO

Feast on traditional Italian favourites such as pizzas, pastas and special menus at the Italian Bistro. Highly recommended are the Zuppa di Pesce (Tuscan Seafood Soup) and Grigliata Mista di Pesce (Mixed Grilled Seafood). Naturally, the seafood here is freshly caught and cooked to perfection.

The restaurant has its own wine cellar with a good selection of red, white and sparkling wines from all around the world to accompany your meal.

Diners can opt to dine inside the air-conditioned restaurant or sit outside in an al-fresco setting to listen to the waves and take in the views of the night sky. Italian Bistro is open for dinner service only from 7:00PM to 11:00PM.

Located right next to Kampung, The Deli offers sweet and savoury items to snack on anytime of the day. This is a great place for hungry kids after swimming and for adults to enjoy teatime. SAMPAN BAR

Enjoy the seabreeze with a delicious cocktail in hand when the sun sets and watch the world go by from the decks of Sampan Bar. Sampan in Malay translates to boat in English. The shape of the bar has been crafted to look like a traditional wooden boat and is a lovely spot to relax and unwind. Adults can cosy up in the cabanas while watching the kids play with the sand. TELUK CEMPEDAK BEACH

Teluk Cempedak Beach is a public beach with wide sandy areas and gorgeous rocks scattered on both sides of the bay. There is a lifeguard observatory tower, however, swimming is at your own risk. There are red and yellow beach flags which will inform beachgoers if it is safe to be in the sea or not. Currents can be strong and jellyfish have been sighted along the beach during certain months. Teluk Cempedak beach is relatively clean as the municipal cleans the area every morning.

The five-star Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort is the only beach resort to occupy Teluk Cempedak’s main stretch of beach. As part of the resort’s facilities, thatched umbrellas with deck chairs are provided for guests and security guards are present at the entry points from the beach to ensure guests’ safety and privacy.

At the far left end of the beach right next to the Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort is a food complex which houses fast food joints such as McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, Starbucks and more. You can access these restaurants from the beach or by walking out from the carpark. There is also a row of shops with a cafe, chinese kopitiam serving decent curry mee for breakfast, and a souvenir shop. If you plan to walk out from the main entrance during the day, be wary of the wild monkeys along the road.

HOW TO GET TO HYATT REGENCY KUANTAN RESORT

BY CAR

One of the best ways to get to Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort is by car if you’re travelling with your family. The resort is under a three-hour leisurely drive from Kuala Lumpur City using the Karak Highway and Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (East Coast Expressway). There are multiple Rest & Relax (R&R) stops along the east bound route namely the larger ones such as Genting Sempah, Temerloh and Gambang.

The resort is also just a mere 10-minute drive from Kuantan City Center. Complimentary 24-hour secure parking is available for all resort guests on site.

BY PLANE

Fly into Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA) in Kuantan from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and even Singapore. The airport is a 30-minute drive from the resort. You can opt to rent a car at the airport or arrange a pick-up service from the resort at a fee. Kerteh Airport (KER) is also another option and is an hour and a half drive from the resort.
